Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of different types of rearing structures on the survival and growth of Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus fry transferred from the natural environment. Four rearing structures were tested in triplicate: a pond, a tank without water renewal (TNR), a tank with continuous water renewal (TCR), and a tank with partial daily water renewal (TPDR). The data were analyzed using ANOVA and tested for significant differences. The study showed that the pond and tanks with partial daily water renewal (TPDR) provide the best survival conditions (4.83% and 6.5% mortality, respectively) and the best growth performance (SGR = 2.89±0.02% and 2.28±0.02%; FCR = 22.48% and 17.3%, respectively). On the other hand, fish reared in tanks with continuous water renewal showed higher mortality rates and poor growth performance (Mortality rate = 41.83%; SGR = 0.23±0.02%; FCR = 1.68%). Tanks with partial daily water renewal and ponds are recommended for the rearing of C. nigrodigitatus fry.
